The Fail Blog

http://failblog.wordpress.com/

Here is a funny list of pictures. Some are real, some are photoshopped. Most are funny.

They make some of our mistakes and failures seem less significant. (Also makes us glad no one around us has a camera!)

unwritten

Lots of good stuff in this song

When we are born again, we are a blank slate, unwritten. Our past is washed away, we are at a beginning. Jesus is ready to guide our pen. If only we could just let go of our habits, our holds and ties to the past, we could open the dirty window and feel the illumination of the sun. I could go on and on and on...
Just listen to the words and let God speak to you through the music.

unwritten by Natasha Beddingfield

I am unwritten, can't read my mind, I'm undefined
I'm just beginning, the pen's in my hand, ending unplanned

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

I break tradition, sometimes my tries, are outside the lines
We've been conditioned to not make mistakes, but I can't live that way

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins

The rest is still unwritten

Message from the Mayor

From today's Glenn Beck Newsletter:

Hello, Glenn Beck listeners, greetings from the Sunshine State! As many of you know, tomorrow will be a crucial day in the Republican primary. Florida is, by far, the largest state to vote in the primary in the lead-up to the 21 states who will vote on February 5. The winner in Florida will secure momentum heading into that crucial primary day and the largest cache of delegates of any state so far. I am confident that I will win.

Overwhelmingly, Florida voters are saying their biggest concern is the economy. As the only candidate with executive experience in turning around a major economy, strengthening a housing market and coming up with pro-growth tax cut driven solutions to seemingly unsolvable economic problems, I am the best prepared candidate to tackle the challenges our nation faces today.

As a first step, I've proposed the largest tax cut in American history. Though the next president will not be inaugurated for almost a year, my plan has already had an impact in Washington. Last week, Senator Kit Bond and Congressman David Dreier introduced my tax plan as legislation in Congress. Many of my supporters signed on as co-sponsors, but I am also pleased that Congressmen who have not yet endorsed a candidate supported my bill. Two members of the Republican leadership - Minority Whip Roy Blunt and Chief Deputy Whip Eric Cantor - both joined me in recognizing that this legislation is exactly the type of pro-growth stimulus our economy needs.

My opponents all have had distinguished careers, but the reality is they failed to consistently stand up for tax cuts in the past. Some voted against the Bush tax cuts while others declined to support them. This is a sign of weakness that we should expect to reemerge in future negotiations with Congress.

Uncertainty is the enemy of long-term economic growth. Companies considering job-creating investment in the United States are less likely to invest in America in an uncertain environment. They are also driven away by our corporate tax rate - the second highest in the industrialized world. That is why I have called for lowering the corporate rate to 25 percent. I will also seek to create a pro-growth economic environment by controlling government spending, reducing the over-regulation that plagues our economy, and ending the frivolous lawsuits which plague our nation.

When you judge a candidate, you should look at his record. In New York City, I used conservative policies to revitalize an overwhelmingly liberal city. I cut taxes 23 times, reduced welfare rolls by 640,000, drove down crime and cleaned up Times Square.

That's the type of conservative leadership America needs right now. We face tremendous challenges, but our nation has been tested many times throughout its history. Those pessimists who think we cannot rise to confront them underestimate the American people. With strong, principled leadership, we can meet the challenges that lie ahead and emerge far stronger.

Throughout my career, I have been tested by difficult challenges. I am ready to lead our nation to even greater security, prosperity, and freedom.

I am a Rudy fan.

Jesus Potatoes

Here are two pics of Jesus in/on potato products.

Here is the top pic's story:

Pastor Renee Brewster and her husband Bishop Winston Brewster are a very spiritual couple. But the site of their savior in a potato has reinvigorated their faith and their desire to help others.
"That's Jesus on the Cross. Just looking at it I don't have to convince," said Renee.
Renee says she had been looking for an excuse to get out of making potato salad. "I was hesitant about making the potato salad because Sister Frankie makes the potato salad at church and I said lord if it's not for me to make potato salad then send me a sign."...
Let's cut to the chase: How was the potato salad?
Pastor Brewster froze the heart of that potato bearing Jesus. The rest was used to make the potato salad served during their weekly rescue mission.
How was that potato salad? "It was good. It was the best you ever made...it was almost as good as Sister Frankie's," said Bishop Brewster.

Wonder what Sister Frankie's secret is? Maybe she used her Jesus potato instead of freezing it.

The other is a Lay's sour cream and onion potato chip:

Rosalie and Jerry Lawson of St. Petersburg, Florida found the image of Jesus Christ on a Lay's sour cream and onion potato chip. "I was down there by myself" in the TV room, she said. "I said, "Jerry, you've got to see this potato chip.”” "He said, "Yeah.' You know how guys are," she said. Then, Rosalie Lawson said, her husband suggested, "Well, we can't eat that."
She has shown photos of the chip to fellow churchgoers and to family members, all of whom have been amazed at the resemblance.
Of course, who knows what Jesus looks like?
"You only know what you think he looks like from pictures," said Rosalie Lawson, 55.

Does Jesus prefer Lays? What if he had eaten it? Is there forgiveness for that? Should we check our food for Jesus images before eating? Is this a sign? A miracle? Should we eat more potatoes? Fewer potatoes? Why not a fruit, like a pineapple, or a mango? Does he like Idaho best?

Important questions for sure...

Bigfoot on Mars

Here are two pictures. The top is a shot from the Mars Rover, the bottom is a shot of Bigfoot on earth.

Here is the article.
http://www.wjno.com/pages/spotlight.html?feed=244038&article=3179440

No wonder he is hard to find. He commutes. Where does he live the most - winter on Mars, summer on Earth? How about taxes - which is his primary residence? Which has better schools Mars or Earth?

Would be interesting to ask him these questions...

Hints for Women

1. Learn to work the toilet seat. If it's up, put it down. We need it
up, you need it down. You don't hear us complaining about you leaving it down.
2. ALL men see in only 16 colors. Peach is a fruit, not a color.
3. If you think you're fat, you probably are. Don't ask us.
4. If you ask a question you don't want an answer to, expect an answer you don't want to hear.
5. Sometimes, we're not thinking about you. Live with it.
6. Sunday = Sports. It's like the full moon or the changing of the tides. Let it be.
7. When we have to go somewhere, absolutely anything you wear is fine. Really.
8. You have enough clothes. You have too many shoes.
9. Ask for what you want. Let's be clear on this one: Subtle hints don't work.
Strong hints don't work. Really obvious hints don't work. Just say it!
10. No, we don't know what day it is. We never will. Mark anniversaries on
the calendar.
11. Peeing standing up is more difficult. We're bound to miss sometimes.
12. Most guys own three pairs of shoes. What makes you think we'd be any
good at choosing which pair, out of thirty, would look good with your dress?
13. Yes, and No are perfectly acceptable answers to almost every question.
14. Come to us with a problem only if you want help solving it. That's what we do.
15. Sympathy is what your girlfriends are for.
16. Anything we said 6 months ago is inadmissible in an argument. All
comments become null and void after 7 days.
17. If something we said can be interpreted two ways, and one of the ways
makes you sad or angry, we meant the other one.
18. You can either tell us to do something OR tell us how to do
something, but not both.
19. Whenever possible, please say whatever you have to say during
commercials. If not, don't be offended when we press the pause button.
20. If it itches, we will scratch it.
21. If we ask what's wrong and you say "nothing," we will act like
nothing's wrong.

Bill Belichick Ruse?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080123/ap_on_sp_fo_ne/fbn_brady_hype_6

Walking cast - really hurt or just misdirection?
As crafty as Belichick is, Brady probably has a sore shoulder or a cold or something completely unrelated to the cast.

Then again maybe that is what Belichick wants us to think and his foot is really hurt.

Might be the coolest stuff ever

Check out this sand.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mP2OdhC1KTE&eurl=http://inventables.com/Innovation/Playground.asp

"The sand (sometimes known as magic sand) was originally invented to help contain large ocean oil spills. The plan was to pour the waterproof sand onto the oil spills so it would mix with the oil and make it heavy enough to sink. However, the product proved too pricey to serve its original intended purpose, and has instead been marketed towards for children."

Very cool...

Beet Juice????

Beet Juice Used To Fight Ice
http://www.wlwt.com/news/15096060/detail.html

"the mixture is only needed when it's too cold for salt alone"
What temperature is that? Very strange.

A new global crisis

Not sure what to think abou this one...

Less dirt would keep our houses cleaner, maybe less dirt on the car after it rains.

Bound to be a democrat tax increase in this somewhere - thanks, Al Gore.

Are Mormons the new Jews?

In the old days, there was this imaginary Jewish cabal. They controlled Hollywood. They controlled banks and financial institutions.  Seems like a Mormon cabal might be taking their place. Here are some examples.

Politicians: Mitt Romney, Orrin Hatch, Harry Reid, Ernest Istook. I am sure there are more.

Financial and business: Nolan Archibald, Chairman and CEO of Black and Decker; Clinton Ardolis,  President of Central Pacific Bank; Francis W. Cash, CEO LaQuinta Properties; Gary S. Baughman, former CEO of Fisher Price; Jonathan C. Coon, President of 1800 Contacts; Gary L. Crittenden, CFO of American Express; J.W. and Richard Marriott, Marriott Corporation; Brett Keller, CMO of priceline.com;
David Neeleman, CEO fo JetBlue; Stewart Nelson COO of Novell; this list could go on and on.

Entertaiment and media: Glenn Beck; Ashlee Ashby, contestant, Survivor Palau; Neleh Dennis, contestant, Survivor Marquesas; Derek and Julianne Hough, dancers on Dancing with the Stars; Ken Jennings, Jeopardy Contestant;
Benji and Lacey Schwimmer and Heidi Groskreutz, So You Think You Can Dance Contestants;
Kelly Wigglesworth, contestant, Survivor Borneo; Wilford Brimley, actor; Jon Heder, actor; Gordon Jump,  dead actor.

As you can see, there are a lot of them. Are they out to take over? Have they already?

Wisdom from Garfield

Garfield gets it.

Amazing Race

Yay for TK and Rachel. I cheered for them from the start. Got to like her even better when she tied the knots and hoisted the furniture up the side of the building.

Don't like the tramp stamp. Not pretty.

Championship Sunday

What happened to the Packers. No pressure on Manning, also no coverage in the secondary. Not a good mix. Should be a great Superbowl. I will cheer for the Pats. I am tired of those old bitter Miami Dolphins who are brought up every time a team starts the season with a few wins in a row...

Championship Sunday

Here is a Packer joke to start off:

A guy named Bob receives a free ticket to Lambeau Field from his
Company. Unfortunately, when Bob arrives at the stadium he realizes the seat is in the last row in the corner of the stadium -- he is closer to the Goodyear Blimp than the field.
About halfway through the first quarter, Bob notices an empty seat 10 rows off the field right on the 50 yard line. He decides to take a chance and makes his way through the stadium and around the security guards to the empty seat.
As he sits down, he asks the gentleman sitting next to him, "Excuse me,
is anyone sitting here?" The man says no.
Now, very excited to be in such a great seat for the game, Bob again inquires of the man next to him, "This is incredible! Who in their right mind would have a seat like this at a Packer game and not use it?" The man replies, "Well, actually, the seat belongs to me, I was supposed to come with my wife, but she passed away. This is the first Packer game we haven't been to together since we got married in 1967.
"Well, that's really sad," says Bob, "but still, couldn't you find someone to take the seat? A relative or a close friend?"
"No," the man replies, "they're all at the funeral"

As I think about the games tomorrow, both are going to be cold and miserable. No one wants to play in Foxboro in January, unless you have to play at Lambeau.

In Foxboro, 24 degrees, with 20mph wind. Miserable.
At Lambeau, 0 degrees with 10mph wind. Way beyond misersable. Not sure what words fit this...

Packers beat the Giants soundly, by 10 or so.
Patriots beat the Chargers by 21.

Sets up a nice Superbowl, Pats v Packers

Something new

LifeChurch has boarded the A.R.C.

http://swerve.lifechurch.tv/2008/01/18/lifechurchtv-boards-the-arc/

Seems like a new thing. LifeChurch has joined someone else's group rather than just starting their own.

Here is the A.R.C. website. http://www.relatedchurches.com

Sounds like a cool deal...

More Wisdom from Song Lyrics

Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose
And nothin' ain't worth nothin', but it's free
"Me and Bobby McGee"
Kris Kristofferson

Most commonly recognized as sung by Janis Joplin. However, Roger Miller was the first one to record it. My favorite is Kris Kristofferson's version.

Luke 12:24 in The Message says "Look at the ravens, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, carefree in the care of God."
Matthew 6:26 is similar " Look at the birds, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, careless in the care of God. And you count far more to him than birds."

We must be like the birds, letting nothing weigh us down. Only when we realize that  it all belongs to Him, can we truly be free. As long as our possessions, money, worldly desires, ego, (whatever it is for you), ties us down, we can never be free. We must let these things go and surrender to Him. Only then can we truly be free.

Fired by my hair stylist

Today I was fired by my hair stylist. That's right, fired. She feels that I am not sensitive enough to her schedule. Sometimes when she runs late, commonly 15 to 30 minutes, it runs me late and I have to reschedule. Obviously my time is way less important than hers. We had been together for 10 years or so. I have followed her through 5 different locations and the birth of two children. Seems like I would have earned a little respect.

I work in the service industry. Therefore, I have to respect my customer's time. My job is to get in on time, solve the problem and get out of the way. If they are not available at the previously scheduled time, or if I am running late, sometimes we have to reschedule. No big deal, we just reschedule. That's how it goes sometimes, I get it. I understand she is at the mercy of people scheduled before me coming in late and it is not always her fault; but it certainly is not mine. I will not let my clients or my schedule suffer because her clients cannot always come in on time.

I am not happy about this.

Watching "U2: The Joshua Tree" on the VH1 Classic Albums show. It might be my favorite album of all time.

Where the Streets Have No name
With or Without You
I Stilll Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
Bullet the Blue Sky
Running to Stand Still
In God's Country
One Tree Hill

All are great songs.

Weight Watcher's Dinner

We had Cola Chicken tonight for dinner.

4 boneless chicken breast halves
1 can diet cola
1 cup ketchup

Mix coke and ketchup together in a large pan. Bring to a boil and add the chicken breasts. Simmer covered for about an hour. Remove the chicken and cook the sauce with the lid off until it thickens.
4 points per chicken breast

The first time we cooked this I made fun of it; but it has become one of my favorites.

Living in the Past

Today on the radio I heard the song, "Boys of Summer" by Don Henley. My favorite part is in the second verse -

Out on the road today
I saw a dead head sticker on a cadillac
a voice inside my head said don't look back
you can never look back

I thought i knew what love was
what did i know
those days are gone for ever
I should just let them go

How easy it is to live in the past. To look back at some earlier glory and want it back again. We should always look forward in anticipation of the next glory/future memory, not reliving the "good" old days.

Misc. sports stories

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080111/ap_on_sp_co_ga_su/bkc_saint_louis_gwashington_1

St. Louis made 8 shots for the whole game, 7 points in the first half. What a torture this must have been to watch. Makes a good case for mercy-killing.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080111/ap_on_sp_fo_ne/fbn_cowboys_t_o_6

T.O. might be back for Sunday's game against the Giants. Like him or not, if he is mentally and physically in the game, the Cowboys are a differrent team.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080111/ap_on_sp_co_ne/fbc_bush_book_5

Have been watching this story for a while. Seems like the evidence is credible. Will the NCAA go after a jewelled program like USC? Maybe this is why Pete Carroll is interested in the Falcon's job.

New Cell phone

How far are we away from this?

http://www.flixxy.com/sumsing-turbo-3000-cellphone.htm

Polar Shift

Just finished the Clive Cussler book, "Polar Shift". It was good, though the ending was not very satisfying. It is a Kurt Austin book. While the Austin/Zavala books are good, I am partial to Dirk Pitt/Al Giordino. Dirk and Al have been so developed as chracters over the years, through so many stories and adventures, I feel like I know them.

Cussler is a master story teller, lots of fluff with little emotional involvement. Very satisfying and shallow.

Before Polar Shift, I read the Terry Brooks book, "Armageddon's Children". First one in a new trilogy. If you are familiar with his work, trilogies are his thing. This group seems like it will link the Word/Void stories with Shannara. I love his writing, though I read his work differently than Cussler. Cussler books, I just run through nonstop. Not much thinking or reflection. Terry Brooks, like Tolkien,  requires some investment from me, kind of like taking a deep breath before you start. I rush through them in anticipation of a great story/epic, that I end up immediately reading them a second time, much slower, just to absorb more of the details. Very enjoyable, but a little tiring, needing a few days emotional break after the second time through, hence the Cussler reading.

Next is Glenn Beck's "An Inconvenient Book". I don't read a lot of books like this, but I really enjoy his radio show.

Unsecure Wi-Fi

Here is an interesting article.

http://www.wired.com/politics/security/commentary/securitymatters/2008/01/securitymatters_0110

I practice this at my home. Our wireless signal is totally unsecure. Since we all use laptops that either have no secret info on them, or are turned off when not in use, I don't see much reason to secure our signal. Anyone who wishes to use it for a little while is more than welcome. I must admit that I am guilty of the other side also. There are times when I am out of the office and need the internet. If there are no free portals aavilable, often I drive to a cluster of small offices or down a residential street with my laptop turned on, looking for a signal. When I find one, I park and borrow some bandwidth for a few minutes.

If everyone did this, most of our city would have wireless internet for no more than we pay now.

Hillary joke

Just got this joke in an email -

One day a fourth-grade teacher asked the children what their mothers did for a living. All the typical answers came up -- teacher, nurse, businesswoman, saleswoman, doctor, lawyer, and so forth.

However, little Justin was being uncharacteristically quiet, so when the teacher prodded him about his mother, he replied, "Well my mother's an exotic dancer in a cabaret and takes off all her clothes in front of men and they put money in her underwear. Sometimes, if the offer is really good, she will go home with some guy and stay with him all night for money."

The teacher, obviously shaken by this statement, hurriedly set the other children to work on some exercises and then took little Justin aside to ask him, "Is that really true about your mother?"

"No," the boy said, "She works for the Democratic National Committee and is helping to get Hillary Clinton to be our next President, but I was too embarrassed to say that in front of the other kids."

Tuesday night reflections

Hillary eked out a victory last night over Obama. I had hoped she would lose. The more blood shed and money spent between these two weakens them for the general election. Each time one of them wins, they suck the oxygen away from the other.

Will we see her cry more?

McCain beat Romney, with Huckabee in third. I want these two idiots to keep up with Romney, hoping Rudy or Fred can swoop in during the confusion on Super Tuesday.

Hard for me to see past the Mormon thing... Maybe(definitely) I am closed minded and shallow.

Tuesday, January 8, 2008

Look at these boneheads. Way too many beers.

Hillary RIP???

Could Hillary lose New Hampshire? Can the GOP beat Obama?

BCS Championship Game

Hoped Ohio State could have pullled it out last night, but they had no answer for the LSU defense. I thought all year that LSU was the best team.

Go Sooner basketball!!

First Post

I have a blog now. I may use it occasionally to vent my frustrations.
