"The sand (sometimes known as magic sand) was originally invented to help contain large ocean oil spills. The plan was to pour the waterproof sand onto the oil spills so it would mix with the oil and make it heavy enough to sink. However, the product proved too pricey to serve its original intended purpose, and has instead been marketed towards for children."
